The real reason you are not making money with your blog

Money Jpeg for the real reason you are not making money with your blog

I just finished a great  virtual retreat entitled : Make Money With Your Blog!  It was a great time, and there were many people who received tremendous value and understood how they can make real many with their blog.  However,  there were others that just didn’t understand how they can make money with their blog.   While they enjoyed the course, they still wanted to know how they could attract advertisers, sponsors and guest bloggers to their blog.     The answer I gave, and will always give,  is to have compelling content!  But, what exactly is compelling content?   Simply put,  compelling content is content that your readers crave, love and share with all of their friends.   While it’s fun to think Oprah will call because she saw your blog, you have to put in the work.   You simply can’t throw up a wordpress blog and think that you are going to be the next J. K. Rowling of the blogsphere,  it just doesn’t work that way.    If you want a successful blog, it’s going to take work, dedication, commitment, and a strong desire to write or at least learn how to write.       Oops, I went on a tangent,  so  let’s dissect compelling content.   Compelling content can be defined as :

What is compelling content?

  • Having a hot and juicy topic that your readers love and would love to know more about
  • Having a magnetic headline s and irresistible titles that attract the attention of your ideal audience
  • Informative, fun, and entertaining content that is designed to educate you  readers or give them  insight on certain topics you cover
  • Having a nice call to action encouraging your blog readers to take the action you want them to take

Why is compelling content so important?

Well, think about it, why do you think  all those tabloid magazines sell?  Because, they have  hot and juicy topics and they  know how to present content in a way that is fun, exciting and juicy.  People know the tabloids are delivering lies, but they are still entertaining to read because they mastered how to create compelling content for their readers.   Of course,  I am not suggesting you lie, but you can create  compelling blog posts that your  readers will love and share.

With all that being said, without compelling content,  you won’t get traffic,  advertisers won’t want to advertise on your site, and  your sponsors will probably go else where.     Say it with me : compelling content creates a flood of traffic that increases sales!    Whether you are trying to attract advertisers, or you want to attract  loyal paying clients, its a must that you deliver  unique and compelling content that your  audience will love.   It is arguably one of the most important elements of an effective blogging strategy.

I think that what you posted was actually very logical.
However, think about this, suppose you added a little information?
I am not saying your content is not good., but suppose you
added a headline that makes people want more? I mean The real reason you are not making money
with your blog – Website Copywriting | Social Media |
Online Marketing is kinda vanilla. You ought to glance at Yahoo’s
front page and see how they create article titles to get viewers interested.
You might try adding a video or a pic or two to grab people excited about what you’ve
written. In my opinion, it would bring your website a little livelier.

      Hello Minna,
Thank you for your input and your suggestions. Have you ever heard of A/B testing? I usually do that to see what my audience resonates with best. I appreciate your feedback, but I do those things already, however, not on this particular blog posts. It was written a while back. The thing is I am a copywriter and I test different headlines all the time. It just depends which ones my audience sees. But thanks for commenting! 🙂
